How To Make Your Home Feel Winter Ready

It's getting cold here in northern Nevada and while the calendar doesn't say winter just yet, it's not far away! We're warming up with cozy touches at home. If you're ready to make your home feel winter ready, follow these three tips.

Layer Cozy Textures

Our tactile sense is a big contributor to coziness, so this is the time to bring out your softest, chunkiest throws and pillows. Layers are key here—mix and match different fabrics, like cottons, wools, velvets and linens, and don't limit them to the furniture! A textured rug stacked over a larger, neutral base can be a great addition.

Keep things interesting with some contrasting texture too, like smooth leather pillows to balance out all the softer pieces. And be mindful of your color palette. Warm, rich tones amp up the cozy factor.

Bring In Natural Elements

Natural elements, like fresh pine branches, faux snow-dusted stems, birchwood accents or wood and rattan pieces, help ground your decor for an organic feel. A great wreath makes it easy, and a mix of fresh and faux plants helps contribute to a warm, inviting feel. You know how we feel about a fabulous faux—it's worth spending the money to get a good one!

Sprinkle In Some Sparkle... But Keep It Subtle

Warm lighting goes a long way when you're cozying up the home for winter, and a little glimmer adds to the magic. Metallic and glass accent pieces reflect light and create a subtle sparkle that feels wonderfully festive (check out this decorative gold pinecone). Just remember that less is more—it's easy to overdo the sparkle!

Our holiday decor shop is full, so hop over to find the perfect throw, faux green or shimmery accent piece (or all three!) to help cozy up your home for the winter.
